Edgar Valter is one of the most famous Estonian writers and illustrators of books for children. He has illustrated more than 250 books. The first book of Edgar Valter that was written and illustrated by himself is "Pokuraamat" (Poku Book). The answer of Edgar Valter to the question how artist has become a writer was: "In the process of illustrating many books for children, the idea and wish formed to write myself for children. The main inspiration was the nature of Võru county, where I have lived for longer time now."

There, in the nature of Võru county, is now the real Pokumaa (Poku Land). It’s a place where children can learn about nature and artwork of Edgar Valter. In the spring of 2008 Pokukoda (Poku House) was built. It’s definitely the most original log-house in Estonia. There are like two giant pokus between road and forest. That’s how a big building looks like with those roofs made of planks which are similar to poku coats. Pokukoda offers expositions of Edgar Valter’s original illustrations and oil paintings.

In the spring 2008 new website was also launched. The task of NMG was to create website which has large content, but in spite of this can be maintainted by the customer. The design had to reflect Edgar Valter’s artwork, but remain simple and user-friendly. Beside usual solutions we created for Pokumaa website also e-cards, games, wallpapers and content for cell phones.

The website is in Estonian and English languages. Basic information is also in Russian, German, Latvian and Finnish languages.
